The Cluster has drawn attention from other economic development agencies within Colorado, nationally, and internationally for this unique and successful approach that has led to real results.

Since initiatives serve as our ‘product’, we have established an initiative test of relevance and application form to provide a mechanism for our customers to do business with the Cluster.  Initiatives are screened by the Economic Development committee and voted on by the board.  Screening criteria include the following:

•Creates primary jobs in the region

•Helps to eliminate workforce gaps

•Represents groundbreaking effort

•Involves an innovative use of clean energy technology

•Includes a research role for regional educational institutions

•Provides a compelling role for the Clean Energy Cluster

•Advances the region

FortZED: will create an energy district for the UniverCity Connections area that generates more energy than it uses on an annual basis.  The energy generation would come from renewable sources within a 50 mile radius of FortZED, renewable and conventional distributed sources within the district, and demand reduction and response within the district.

Workforce Study :The Cluster coordinated a workforce study in partnership with local economic development agencies and educational institutions to assess workforce needs in more detail and then develop a coordinated plan among educational institutions for meeting these needs.

Smartgrid.edu is an initiative to educate organizations and influential stakeholders in Smart Grid technologies through achievement of these business objectives and deliver a multi-course training program designed to teach basic knowledge and concepts of Smart Grids.

State Land Board is an initiative to develop a systematic, replicable approach for screening State Land Board land holdings and identifying top parcels for renewable energy and green development projects.
